Mr. Gathuka is the Current Senior managing partner in our firm. Previously, Mr. Gathuka worked and partnered with Gikera and Vadgama Advocates where he oversaw the business development docket. Before joining Gikera and Vadgama, Mr. Gathuka was the Country Program Manager with International Foundations for Electoral Systems (IFES) here in Kenya where he led a team of 30 personnel in the implementation of the USAID support program on matters of policy development, governance, and elections. Previous to IFES, he was the Assistant manager, International Development and Cooperation Division at the Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB) in South Korea, the largest Election Management Body in the world. He graduated from Moi University in Kenya with a Bachelor’s degree in Law, Second Class Honors, and thereafter proceeded to obtain a Post-Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law and was admitted to the Bar as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. He also has a Masters in Law from the University of South Wales.
Mr. Gathuka is also an accredited Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (ACIarb), a full member of the Law society of Kenya, and the East Africa Law society. Mr. Gathuka has solid experience in the democratic governance field and demonstrable extensive competence in programme management, electoral Laws development, administration, and access to justice with a distinguished history, working professionally with Constitutional commissions, international organizations, private, and Government institutions.
He was actively involved in the review and development of various legislations Electoral laws such as Elections Act, 2011, and Political Parties Act, 2011, and Election General Regulations 2012 at the dawn of the new constitutional dispensations in Kenya and the Constitutional Implementation process. He also has experience advising companies on commercial transactions, immigration law, conveyancing, mergers and acquisitions, and incorporation of international companies locally.

She brings extensive experience in Litigation and especially in matters involving; Corporate Law, debt collection, breach of contracts, body injury claims, extensive damage to property, conveyancing, criminal litigation, and much more. Besides the usual, she had the opportunity to work with various governmental and non-governmental institutions while representing client’s best interest, she served as the Naivasha Branch LSK Representative and was a member of the LSK Rift Valley Branch. In addition, she served in the Naivasha Law Courts Pro-bono committee and has been active in various trainings with the likes of the National Council of the Administration of Justice.

Hazel Okoth is the Head of our Commercial, Corporate, and Intellectual Property practice areas. Hazel specializes in commercial transactions, banking and finance, conveyancing, intellectual property as well as anti-counterfeit actions. Hazel also advises on aspects of the Companies Act, general corporate governance, and cybersecurity. She has advised on cross-border transactions on behalf of local and foreign clients, handled real estate development projects, and acted on behalf of developers and purchasers, undertaken the preparation and perfection of securities on behalf of traditional and non-traditional lenders, and represented local and foreign brand owners in the acquisition and protection of their intellectual property rights under national, regional, and international regimes.
Hazel holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (Second Class Honors) from the University of Nairobi and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. She also holds a Higher National Diploma in Human Resource Management from the College of Human Resource Management, Nairobi, and has completed various online courses related to intellectual property from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Academy, Geneva.

Carol Ogola, a Higher Diploma Holder in Human Resource Management, and a certificate in Computer Applications currently works with GNA law firm as Administrative Assistant cum Receptionist. For the past five years, she has worked in three different law firms at the Administration Department, hence this has equipped her with exceptional and excellent skills, knowledge, and experience in the legal field, this has not only enabled her gain knowledge in the same field but has made her develop passion and interest in law as a profession. The most interesting part about her roles and duties in her designation at GNA law firm is the fact that she feels engaged in all the departments by being tasked different duties. This has been her main goal/Aim; working in a challenging environment where her knowledge, experience, and skills can be best utilized. Her Motivational statement puts it this way, “It’s never about the role, always about the goal. Surround yourself only with people who are going to lift you higher.” Working as an Administrative Assistant and Receptionist is an interest to her since she is enthusiastic about being the first image of the company, as well as interacting with clients. This to her is the gateway in attracting, maintaining, and retaining more customers as well as building a unique company brand in the labor market.
